Tagged!!

Yes, thanks to a wonderful friend I have been tagged. It is the worst and kind of fun at the same time. So since I read your post Rachel I have been thinking about it for a week. In fact I started thinking about what to write instead of preparing my lesson I had been asked to teach in Relief Society last week. It took a day to get my mind back to my lesson. When the lesson was over I started thinking again. Needless to say here goes but most of you know this stuff.

1. I am a Perfectionist(not in everything just a lot of things). I like to do my very best on stuff and if I don't or can't I will put it away for a while(sometimes longer). It is hard for me to teach my children to do things and let it be the way they have done it instead of fixing it to be prefect. But I am working on it.

2. I am a Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate(EMT-I). I got my certification when attending SUU ten years ago. My roommate asked me to take the class with her so I did. I didn't think I would like it so much to keep my certification. In fact I didn't think I could handle the blood but when they brought real placentas for us to see and feel you either get over it or quit. I got over it. My older cousin was an EMT when I was little and he used to ask me to help him moch disasters and stuff. I never would because it scared me. I have obviously got over that too. Since having my certification I have ran on an ambulance for 3 years and worked in an ER doing many moch disasters.

3. Vampire! (Not in the sense of drinking but of drawing). From being an EMT I have learned to draw blood and have become IV certified. I love it!! Not kidding. Give me and arm and let me feel the veins. It amazes me that we can stick a needle in a vein and get blood and also administer to the sick by giving medications and fluids.

4. I Truly Love the Elderly. Since I was little I use to love to go see my great grandma. When I was between 10-12 I took crochet lesson from an elderly lady in my ward. I loved to go to her house and learn. And then when Cody and I were first married I had a lady in her 80's ask me to do her nails. Every three weeks I would go to her house and do her acrylic nails until she passed away. I am currently visiting a lady in her late 80's to do her nails. I enjoy making their hands pretty and hearing their life stories. I love visiting with my grandparents now and learning about them.

5. I am a Collector of Paper. Yes, I love paper. Always have. My mom use to set me on the counter with paper and crayons to color while she baked I wouldn't move for hours. I use to collect note pads and different colors of paper. As a child I would go to the local copy shop to by 1 sheet of each color of paper and I would saver it. It had to be something special to get me to use it. For my birthday every year I would get a ream of white paper (500 sheets). Yes I would use the whole ream within that year. Hence comes scrap booking. I use to be good at staying caught up until high school (the last 15 years haven't been good). But oh do I have the paper to do it. I still by the cute paper when I see it because I have good intentions for someday in the future getting back to it.

6. I have always wanted to be a Singer or play a Musical Instrument. I did in no way come from a musically inclined family. My mom use to tell me to quit singing when I was little. Tells you how well I do. If we are in a group, like sacrament meeting and somebody is singing off key I tend to follow that person instead of the one on key. I started guitar lessons twice in my life. The first time in high school. I was doing pretty well until I got in a car accident and broke my left hand. I never returned back to those lessons. The second time Cody and I took guitar from one of my clients but his school and work schedule along with my nail and mom schedule just didn't seem to work. So someday I will get back to using the guitar I got for Christmas when I was 18 and make some music. HOPEFULLY!

Remembering our friend Dave Kirby
Sunday after returning home from church we recieved a phone call telling us that Dave had a stroke and was in the hospital and it didn't look good. Kara and I left immediatly for the hospital. We arrived and talked with Daves brother Todd and his wife Anna. They told us that a blood vessel in the back of Daves brain had been sheared causing a blood clot that travelled to the basilar artery. This caused part of his brain to go without blood thus killing part of his brain. The doctors performed surgery removing the clot but the damaged part of the brain was swelling quickly. They told us Daves chances were not good.
We went up to Daves room to see him and his wife Heidi. She was amazingly strong as she told us the slim possibilities and more likely reality. As we cried and shared some precious time with her by Dave's bedside the nurse came and got Heidi. She told her that his body was shutting down and time was growing very short. We all were horrified by this news. As Heidi sat by her husbands side she said that Dave is not going to leave this difficult decision to me, he is going to make it on his own.
As the family began filling the room we said our goodbyes and left so the family could share the last few minutes with their husband, father, son, and brother. What a sobering experience but one that will always be cherished. What strength and love was shown by Heidi and all of Daves family. Listening to Heidi we could tell she had an eternal perspective even at this difficult time.
We will always remember Dave and his love for life.
We are so greatful for the time we were able to spend with Dave in St. George. Kara was able to feed Dave and Joe many times in our humble trailer. Carson and I especially had many memories with Dave fishing almost every night. Dave and I had many days when our families were not with us in St. George that we spent at the lake fishing for largemouth bass or rabbit hunting. Daves cousin Trent showed us the hot spot and from then on we fished every chance we could.
We were also able to spend some great times with Dave and his family when his family came to St. George. We were able to go hiking in Zions, swimming in the pool, barbequeing at the lake, or just a KFC picknic in the park.
Kara and I were able to spend some good times with Dave and Heidi on our cruise, being as they were the ones that were more our age. We went snorkeling and rode underwater scooters. Of course somehow Dave talked me into entering a belly flop contest with him on the ship, in hopes of getting my uncle Alan to join in. It worked Alan joined us and we all three had the chance to make fools of ourselves.
We will always remember the great times we had with Dave and his family.
Dave, may God be with you till we meet again. And even more so may God be with your wife and children until you can meet them again.
Cody

Garrett's Snowmobile Birthday Party

Our good friends invited us to go snowmobiling with them for their son Garrett's birthday party. We meet them on the mountain about 11am. The kids took turns on little snowmobiles and the adults took turns driving the kids and adults to the top of the hill to tube down. We had a barbecue and cups cakes to celebrate his birthday. We had fun. The day was totally for kids.
Garrett, Carson, and Garrett's other friend Anthony with his presents from his friends.

Garrett and Carson with the star wars toy Carson gave him.

Cody and Corban chillin on the sled.

Carson on Garrett's little snowmobile

Corban in his to big of a coat and flood snow pants.
When we were getting ready to leave we realized we didn't have boots, coat or snow pants that would fit Corban. We haven't played in the snow with him this winter which is a shame. Mom just hasn't felt the best. On our way out of town we stopped at Wal-mart hoping to find something that would work. Well, we ended up with rain boots that fit and he had to wear warm booty things inside. The snow pants were gone (all of the spring selection was out) so he had to wear last years which he never wore because they were way to big and now they are floods on him and the coat is a hand me down from Carson. So sorry Corban we really do love you.

We want to THANK the Worthen's for a great day!

NASCAR in LAS VEGAS

K.D. and Megan & K.D.'s brother and wife

Me and Cody & Marcie and Phil

The start of the race & big plane going into land

Scott and Sadie & Aspen (my niece) and Shea
Cody pretty much summed up our nascar trip. It was a blast. My sister Sadie and Scott went down too. They took my niece Aspen and my cousin Ted took his daughter Shea. We didn't sit with them but got to see them.
I forgot how fast the cars go and how loud it is. It amazes me. When we left we had black on our faces from the tires and sitting so close to the track. I would have to agree with Cody don't mock it until you have tried it.
Viva Las Vegas

We had some friends who had a couple people back out from their annual Las Vegas Nascar trip so they asked us about a week before the race. We haven't been for about 3 years so we decided to go. It was a short trip but we had a lot of fun. And I know some of you are saying right now how can it be fun watching cars turn left for hours. All I can say is don't mock until you've tried it. I thought I would share a small tidbit with you. By the way, they were only going about 160 mph when they passed us not their usual 185 to 195, because this was the start of the race.

Enjoy,

Cody
